GulfSport Racing - The Managment Team
Barry Hope – Managing Director
Barry has been racing and promoting motor sport for over 25 years, including 10 years in the Gulf where he was instrumental in founding and developing both two and four wheel motor sport in Dubai. He managed his son’s racing career through 100cc karting, saloon car and sportscar racing, and created a syndicate to own and race an ex-Martin Brundle Tyrrell Cosworth Formula 1 car in the FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix Championship.
Martin Hope – Technical Director
Born in Bahrain in 1981, Martin is a very accomplished karter, racing driver and race engineer. He has a National Diploma in Motorsport Engineering from Brooklands College and a BSc Honours Degree from Oxford Brookes University.
Martin raced 100cc two stroke karts from the age of 11, competing in over 500 club races up to ‘Super One’ (the highest national level in the UK). He has raced a Ford XR2, a Renault Sport Spider, and Radical sports racing cars the UK and in Dubai. Martin’s first major technical role was race engineering a 1985 Tyrrell 012 in the FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix Championship at the age of 19.

Gary Francis – Workshop Manager
Gary is into his second race season now with GulfSport Racing. Coming from the UK where he worked as a technical trouble-shooter for Jaguar, Gary’s skillsets have been invaluable in developing GulfSport’s quality systems and in problem diagnosis – which is one of the main requirements for looking after racing cars.

Mike Scott – Retail Manager
Mike has been in the Middle East for 3 years. Previously, he was Sales Manager at Demon Tweaks, the world’s largest professional motorsport equipment retailer. He is currently the only person in the Middle East qualified to fit Hans Devices and refill and re-arm race fire extinguishers. He is also an experienced scrutineer, and without doubt the most experienced retail expert in the region.
