Racing Team
GulfSport’s principals started competitive racing in 1992 in Formula TKM and Formula 100C karting with Swiss Hutless and Gillard karts at Super One level. After competing in the Stock Hatch Championship with a Ford XR2, they then raced a Radical Clubsport in the UK Radical Biduro Championship in 1999 and an ex-TOCA Renault Sport Spider in the 750MC Roadsports series. In year 2000, they competed in Thoroughbred Grand Prix, the forerunner to the FIA Historic Formula One Championship with a Tyrrell 012 Cosworth that had been driven by Martin Brundle for Ken Tyrrell in 1985. GulfSport employee Nicky Wilson won the 2004 Formula Renault BARC Championship.
Team GulfSport offers a comprehensive range of services that enables amateur drivers to maximise their enjoyment whilst minimising the time involved. Their race cars are prepared by expert technicians at GulfSport’s 15,000 sq ft race shop in Al Quoz who also provide logistics and full trackside support when their cars are being tested and raced.
Team GulfSport own the Formula Gulf 1000 single seater series and are Technical Partner to the Maserati Trofeo Middle East one make race series that starts in December 2011.
Drivers benefit from personalised coaching and the analysis of data and in-car video recorded during their track sessions by an experienced race engineer. This ‘one on one’ mentoring provides an effective fast-track to develop the techniques and skills necessary to win races.
This approach has helped a number of the UAE’s top drivers to develop their skills, some of whom have gone onto win both National and International championships. GulfSport is proud to have contributed to the success of many local drivers including Bassam Kronfli, Omran Al Owais, Mohammed Al Owais, Humaid Al Masaood, Bob George and Sultan Mahboubi.
GulfSport use their custom-built 40’ race transporter to move cars and equipment to the track. Driver and team hospitality is provided from a 30’ side awning.
