Of course the big news is that Team Lotus now own Caterham Cars Ltd. It was of course the legendary Colin Chapman who founded Lotus Cars in 1952 and under his leadership Team Lotus won seven Formula One Constructor Titles and developed the Lotus Seven.

The Caterham R500 has got to be one of the world’s most famous cars. Top Gear voted it as their ‘Car of the Year’ in 2008 because as Clarkson said “it achieved something that a car of its value should not be able to do”.

GulfSport operates Caterham’s regional sales and service centre for the region and has now sold every major model to enthusiasts across the GCC including the CSR, R500, R400, R300 and Roadsport. All cars were custom built to the customers exact specification and colour.

But the really big news was the announcement of the Caterham Lola SP300R at the Autosport Show which will form the basis of a one-make championship in 2012.
